Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman replaced temporarily by Gary Holt (Exodus)
Hanneman has been diagnosed with necrotising fasciitis, a rare disease which destroys skin, fat and tissue from below the surface of the body. He is believed to have caught the disease from a spider bite and will undergo surgery on his right arm shortly.
On Monday (February 14) it was announced that Hanneman would not be touring as he’d contracted a flesh-eating disease.
Gary Holt, guitarist with San Francisco metal band Exodus, will join the band for the duration of their Australian tour and continue until Hanneman recovers.
+ Slayer will be able to play Sonisphere Festival in the UK in July.
